Sorry about the football metaphor. I am Bronco fan after all. My Dad was also a Bronco fan. He was one of the first press people for the old Denver Bears when he worked for Air Force Radio and Television. Speaking of my Dad, he was a Republican. I don't think he would have identified himself with the party of today, let alone the Tea Party sect. A friend of mine was accused me of parroting anything my Dad said. He intimated I could not think for myself. Well guess what, I formulated my own opinions despite what my Dad said or did. I once even had a short argument with him about Bill Clinton. He was not a fan.Those who greatly influenced my outlook include Paul Tedrow, history teacher extraordinaire; Mr. Rosburg, a Shakespeare aficionado; Bill Hart, a state senator and social studies teacher; Mrs. Estes, a civics teacher at Russell Junior High; Mr. Blair, political science professor at Las Positas College; Jon Stewart, of Comedy Central; and of course my Dad. Besides all those outside influences, I observed and learned on my own.
Tonight
Well, in just a few hours (if it's not really close), America will have chosen its course for the next four years. Four years ago, there were millions of people who thought President Obama was some kind of modern day messiah. I did not. One person does not have the power to wave a magic wand and fix all that ails this country. Oh and by the way, that includes Mitt Romney.So, four years later there is lots of disappointment to go around. Many are not happy that Obama did not accomplish enough. Remember back when there were nearly a dozen Republican candidates on stage for the nomination and all those debates? Well, there have to be a few right wing types who are disappointed Romney was the last man standing.

Hey everyone, did you know the word Forward means you're being a Marxist? I guess that means when daylight saving time comes around again we will have to say something else besides moving clocks forward an hour. Or, when corporations and analysts are talking about future financial numbers, they have to say something besides forward looking. Corporations aren't Marxist, right? Would people prefer the Democrats stay still, remain idle, or worst yet go backward? I guess we can't pay it forward any more. People might think we are redistributing. To infer that Obama believes in Marxism because he uses the word "Forward" is ridiculous. Here is the definition from Merriam Webster:1 a : near, being at, or belonging to the forepart
2 a : strongly inclined : ready
b : situated in advance
b : lacking modesty or reserve : brash
c : moving, tending, or leading toward a position in front; also: moving toward an opponent's goal
5 a : advocating an advanced policy in the direction of what is considered progress
Nope, I don't see a photo of Karl Marx there. Not even a reference.
Crusade
Does anyone remember how Bush used the word "Crusade" when he spoke of Afghanistan? It was a mistake, but I don't think he was attempting to be imperialist or bring Christianity back to the Middle East.Obama's Accomplishments
